He was publicly threatened by Bollywood bad boy Salman Khan during a press conference.Vivek Oberoi attended Mayo college in Ajmer. He was then discovered by the director of NYU during an actors workshop in London. Oberoi completed his Masters Degree in New York. Returning to India, he got his first big break in Ram Gopal Varma's gangster flick "Company" (2002).
Oberoi's career took off from there.Next in line was the psycho-thriller "Road" (2002) and then "Saathiya" (2002), opposite Bollywood superstar Rani Mukherjee which cemented his star status in the film industry. Highly publicized relationship with Mukherjee and Aishwarya Rai also didn't hurt his rise to fame.His father is a veteran actor, who did shades of roles ranging from a hero to supporting actor to a villain. After his initial success, he made Road, Dum, Saathiya , Darna Mana Hai, Masti, Yuva, Kyon Ho Gaya Na and the latest being Subhash Ghai's, Kisna. He did a variety of roles with a wide star cast. He was linked for quite sometime with the green-eyed beauty, Aishwarya Rai and was supposedly threatened by Salman Khan for the same. He was also in the news when he broke his engagement with long time girlfriend, Gurpreet. Life and career has moved on ever since for Vivek and he seems to be steadily climbing the ladder.
