Sunil Dutt

Sunil Dutt was born in 1930 and his actual name was Balraj Dutt. The first film he directed was 'Yaadein' in 1964. It was an experimental film about a man who comes home to find that his wife has left him. This film had only one actor-himself. The film was a commercial disaster. His next directorial venture was the film 'Reshma aur Shera', which was once again an unconventional movie.

Sunil Dutt's first film was in 1955 - 'Railway Platform'. But it was Mehboob Khan's 'Mother India', which saw his rise as a star. It also won him a wife - Nargis. Later, Sunil Dutt did many creatively satisfying roles in films like 'Sujata', 'Sadhana', 'Amrapali' and 'Mera Sapna', which were heroine-oriented.His experiments with unconventional themes continued with the films 'Ye Raaste Hain Pyar Ke' and 'Mujhe Jeene Do'.

Sunil Dutt was extremely sincere to his profession and dared to go against the norm. But unfortunately he was successful only when he tread the beaten path.
