Amjad Khan

Amjad Khan was born in November 12,1940. The second son of the 1950's actor Jayant, Khan steered towards theatre in his youth. Though Khan was to be launched as a hero in his home production, 'Patthar Ke Sanam', in 1965, the film did not proceed beyond its inception. Then, in 1975, the cult movie 'Sholay' shot Amjad Khan into fame. The film marked the culmination often years of struggle for Khan. His subsequent films 'Muqaddar Ka Sikander', 'Suhaag' and 'Mr. Natwarlal consolidated his position as a major star.

While travelling to the location of 'Wattan', a car accident nearly killed Amjad Khan, but he effected a miraculous recovery. He played the title role in the films 'Dada' and two successful comic cameos in 'Qurbani' and 'Love Story'.

He ventured into direction with the films 'Chor Police' and Ameer Aadmi Gareeb Aadmi', which turned out to be box office failures. In May 1992, Amjad Khan died following a severe heart attack.
