Ajay Devgan was born in Mumbai, however his family is basically from Delhi. He is the son of ace fight-master Veeru Devgan. His father is a successful action director of the Mumbai film industry. Ajay was exposed to films at a very early age. He accompanied his father on several occasions to film set-ups and shooting schedules. At his age, he must have been impressed by the stunts his father directed. So, when he grew up and entered films, Ajay did some hair-raising stunts in his films.

Being the son of a fight master and fond of performing stunts, Devgan's earlier films were more of the violent nature. Though Ajay Devgan shifted from action stuff quite sometime back, the definite departure was noticed in 'Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha'. With the film 'Ishq' Ajay's potential as a romantic hero was discovered. After a couple of films came 'Hum I De Chuke Sanam' and Ajay became a hot star.

Movies and Fame
Ajay made his debut in Bollywood with the film 'Phool Aur Kaante'; a bit hit. His action film 'Suhaag' was also appreciated. He was awarded with the National Award for his film 'Kache Dhaage'. Ajay performed brilliantly in the film 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh'. He played the role of the legendary revolutionary Bhagat Singh. In Ram Gopal Varma's 'Company', he played the role of an underworld do Ajay's negative role in the film 'Deewangee' was much appreciated. He was given a Film fare Award for this performance.
