Aamir Khan first made his appearance as a child artist in ' Yaadon Ki Baraat'. His first film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak', released in 1988, made him popular among the Indian youth. In 1990, his film 'Dil', directed by Indra Kumar, was tremendously successful, and Aamir became an overnight star.With time Aamir Khan grew into a fine and mature actor.
He distinguished himself with the acting calibre he displayed in Mahesh Bhatt's film - 'Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin'. This performance continued in the films - 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke', Andaaz Apna Apna', and 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar'. His ability to immerse himself in a role was exemplified in the film 'Rangeela', where he merged himself into the character of a black marketeer. His film 'Lagaan' was internationally acclaimed and .was selected under Best Foreign Film category for Oscar Nomination 2002.
